What Is a Primitive Baptist
The Primitive Baptist Church is a group of followers of Jesus Christ who trace their history from Jesus Christ through the Apostles into modern history. Shoal Creek Primitive Baptist Church has long been a part of the Clayton-Cherokee community. The actual founding of the church in this location dates back to 1839-hence the name “Primitive Baptist,” which means “original” Baptist church.
Church services at Shoal Creek are characterized by prayer, acappella singing and gospel sermons. No generation gap exists between church members since all meet together in the common bond of Christian love and fellowship. The gospel is preached by our Pastor, Elder Randall Cagle, and other ministers of the same faith and order. Careful attention is given to ensure that nothing is omitted or added to the church service as described in the New Testament.
Visitors are cordially invited to come and worship the True and Living God. Shoal Creek’s church services are held each Sunday Morning at 10:30 a.m.
The Doctrine of the Primitive Baptist Church is clearly established in the Bible. Following is a brief outline:
We believe in the Divine Sovereignty of God. That He has all power in Heaven and earth. Hel rules and reigns today as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. That Jesus Christ is God and He accomplished our eternal salvation Through Him and Him alone we have been given the free gift of eternal life. (Romans 6:23)
We believe in the Complete Depravity of Man. This means that man in his faller dead state is vile, and by no means of his own is fit for the presence of God. (Romans 3:10-18, Isaiah 64:6-7)
We believe in the Unconditional Election of God’s people by Himself. God’s election of His people is not dependent upon man’s good, but solely by His sovereign choosing. (Romans 8:29, 9:11; Ephesians 1:4)
We believe in Particular Redemption. That is that Christ died only for that portion of mankind that was given Him by the Father before the world began. (John 17:2-4, Matthew 1:21)
We believe in the Effectual Calling by the Grace of God, or in other terms, “regeneration, or born again.” Jesus states, (John 6:37-40) “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me.” Just as Lazarus was unable to resist the call of Jesus from natural death to life, so every person that Jesus calls from spiritual death to spiritual life is unable to restrain himself from that call. (John 3:1-8, 5:24-25, 6:44).
We believe all the chosen, redeemed, and born again children of God will be preserved in Christ Jesus. This means that all of God’s elect will live in eternity with Him, regardless of our own works of righteousness or lack thereof. (Romans 8:38-39)
Jesus came to do His Father’s will, (John 6:36-37) “and this is the Father’s will which hath sent me that of all which He hath given me I should loose nothing, but raise it up again at the last day.” We believe that Jesus Christ is perfectly able to finish that which He was sent to do.
